Five Basic
Steps To Good Skin
These five steps are
a simple routine that anyone can do to supplement regular visits to Remedy
Skin Care Center. Learn now to protect your skin on a daily basis. Don’t
wait until you’re older, wishing that you had taken better care
of your skin. (Please note, if you are on strict instructions
from your doctor to only use his or her products, then you must do so.)
- The first step
is to cleanse. Always wash your face first thing in the morning and
in the evening before bedtime. When you wash your face with a facial
cleanser, you must cleanse twice. The first cleansing is to remove any
makeup or debris that gets on the face. The second is to get deep down
into the pores (follicles) and remove dirt that may be present.
- Next, apply
a toner (if applicable for your skin type.) Use a cotton ball to apply
it, or you can spray it onto the face.
- The next
step is to exfoliate. You can do a basic exfoliation by applying a scrub
to your face. Make sure that your face is slightly wet when applying
the scrub. Gently massage all over the face, neck, and chest. Don't
scrub too hard on the face because you could damage the skin. Rinse
well with water using your fingers, washcloth, or a sponge.
- The next
step is to moisturize your skin. When you wash your face, you strip
some of your natural moisturizer that is always on your skin, so you
need to replace the moisture by adding a “face lotion”.
You should always use an appropriate moisturizer for your face and body.
Never use a body moisturizer on the face, because it is too thick and
heavy for the skin on your face. It will clog the pores. Use a lightweight
“oil free” moisturizer on your face to prevent from breaking
out. Always apply the moisturizer on the face and neck lightly. Do not
add too much product. If the moisturizer is not enough moisture, then
use a richer face cream.
- For daytime use
only, apply a sunscreen on top of your moisturizer. If your skin is
oily, then use your sunscreen as your moisturizer. Most sunscreens available
today are formulated to hydrate the skin.
